Have you ever wondered what the inside of a colon looks like? Here's your chance.

On Tuesday, March 18, the Mayo Clinic Cancer Education Center will host a public event on colon cancer awareness from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Rochester, Minn. in the Cancer Education Center on the lobby level of the Gonda Building downtown.

Patients, families and the public are invited to get the latest updates related to prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and care of colon cancer.

The event will highlight updates from experts including:

  • DNA stool screening test with David Ahlquist. M.D.
  • Nutrition and colon cancer with Jackie See, dietitian
  • Treatment and research updates with Joleen Hubbard, M.D.
  • Exercise for cancer prevention with Linde Sifuentes, wellness coordinator
  • Screening and prevention with Paul Limburg, M.D.
  • Awareness and resources with Matt Schafer of the American Cancer Society

Attendees can walk through a giant inflatable colon and learn more about polyps. The most important message is to learn about colon cancer screening and understand your risk factors. Experts and educators will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources and support.
